The Grapeland Sandies handled Cayuga 77-43 in their first post-season action Tuesday night at Fairfield.
The No. 18-ranked Sandies set the tone early, jumping out to an 11-0 lead. They held a 15-7 cushion at the end of the first quarter and then dominated the middle quarters to lead 40-13 at the break and 61-24 heading into the final frame.
The Sandies opened up their biggest lead of 43 points midway through the final period, 75-32.
Four Sandies scored in double figures. Jaques Faulk recorded a double-double with 12 points (2 treys), 10 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Tink McQuirter had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal. Rodney Davis booked 12 points, (1 trey), 3 rebounds and 3 steals Riley Chipman had 10 points and 3 steals.
Parker Wilson finished with 8 points (2 treys), 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Jason Walker contributed 7 points, 6 rebounds, and a team-high 5 steals.
Contributing 6 points apiece were Rick Frauenberger and Kamari Smith, who also grabbed 5 rebounds. Dee Bass chipped in 4 points along with 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
Each team only shot 9 free throws. The Sandies made 6 and Cayuga sank 7.
Grapeland (25-8) moved on to the area round and faced Riesel Friday at Fairfield.
