Grapeland Powerlifters Lift Heavy at Elkhart Invitational

Elkhart High School boys and girls teams took first place in the Elkhart Invitational in an early season contest held Saturday, Jan. 23.

Trinity boys finished in 2nd place and Grapeland finished 6th. Trinity placed 3rd in girls competition and Grapeland placed 7th.

Four Grapeland lifters brought home individual medals from the meet.

Lifters competed in squat, bench press, and deadlift with the best lifts in each category providing a total that is used to determine final rankings.

Boys
Jaycob Elliott- 11th, 148 wt class, total 580 lbs.
Cameron Riess- 1st, 181 wt class, total 1225 lbs.
Dylon Gilplin- 15th, 181 wt class, total 680 lbs.
Ashton Henry- 3rd, 198 wt class, total 945 lbs.
Jonathan Rogers- 6th, 198 wt class, total 685 lbs.
Joel Barbosa- 1st, SHW wt class, total 1165 lbs.
