Crockett Bulldog hoopsters held on to beat the Leon Cougars 57-52 in a district road game on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs 17-11 at the end of the first quarter, but saw their lead slip away after Leon dominated the second quarter 18 to 5 for a 29-22 at halftime advantage.
Leon wrestled the lead away from Crockett late in the third quarter, but Deandre Anderson nailed a long 3-pointer in the closing seconds to put the Bulldogs in front 43-41 heading into the final stanza.
After Leon knotted the score at 47-all with 4:45 left, Crockett picked up five points at the charity stripe and Xavion Dixon canned a basket with 3:50 left to make it 53-47.
The Cougars answered with a free throw and 3-pointer, cutting the lead to 53-51 with 1:20 left.
A rebound and put-back by Dixon gave the Bulldogs a four-point cushion, 55-51.
After Leon hit a free throw to make it a three-point game, Rasheed Epps went to the line with :07 left and knocked down two crucial free throws to seal a five-point victory.
Dixon finished the night with 14 points and Deandre Anderson was right on his heels with 13.
Rounding out the scoring were Tyress Anderson and Rasheed Epps with 7, Vuntererrius eonard amd Alton Owens with 4, Octavious Anderson 3, Case Robinson 2, Lucky Daniels 2 and Derrick Sherman 1
The Bulldogs hosted Onalaska Friday and travel to Westwood on Tuesday.
