It was a perfect homecoming night for Kennard High school.
After crowning the 2015-16 homecoming royalty, the Kennard Tigers and Lady Tigers treated their fans to a pair of victories over Union Hill on Friday, Dec. 11.
Leading by just three heading into the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers used a 15 to 5 run to overcome Union Hill 36-23 and improve their season record to 8-6.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 12-0 first quarter lead, but Union Hill tightened the game to 18-11 at the break and 21-18 after three quarters.
Terianna Johnson led the Lady Tigers in double figures with 12 points, followed by Kendall Adair and Ta'Coreyn McDaniel with 8 apiece. Brianna Johnson chipped in 5 points, Dariann Ping 2 and Destini Mancilla 1.
The Lady Tigers, ranked No. 25 in the TABC state poll, sit at 1-0 in District 27-A after beating Buckholts at home on Dec. 8.
Kennard boys won their homecoming game over Union Hill 46-38.
The Tigers led all the way-- 13-5 after a quarter, 24-18 at the break and 33-27 at the end of the third.
Sean Griffin and Chris Dias paced the Tigers' scoring with 13 points apiece, Keith Griffin followed with 8, Austin Griffin had 6, Matt Moore 4 and Nick Dodson 2.
The Tigers improved their season record to 6-7 and were scheduled to play their district opener Friday, Dec. 18 against Calvert.
