Crockett Bulldogs locked up a berth in the Texas State 7on7 Championships at the Commerce SQT (state qualifying tournament) on Saturday, May 23.

The Dogs won their pool with victories over Argyle 45-28, Crandall 42-15 and Prariland 42-16 to advance to the championship bracket.

Gilmer and Dallas First Baptist Academy won the other two pools and joined Crockett in the championship bracket.
In the first game of the championship round, Crockett beat Gilmer, 50-13 and came back with a 58-36 win over DFBA to clinch the state berth. Gilmer claimed the second berth by eliminating DFBA.

"We played some quality competition in that SQT," said CHS head coach Jimmy Thompson, noting that Gilmer was the UIL Class 4A D2 State Champion and Argyle was the Class 4A D1 state runnerup last fall.

The Division II 7on7 State Tournament will be held Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10 at College Station.
To prepare for state, the Bulldogs are competing in a summer league with Livingston, Woodville and Diboll with games scheduled each Monday at Livingston.

On Thursday, June 4, Crockett will host four teams for 7on7 matchups and lineman challenge starting at 5 p.m. in Driskell Stadium. Competing with Crockett will be Trinity, Normangee, Buffalo and Groveton.
