A one vehicle roll-over crash early this morning, Sunday, June 26, claimed the lives of Brendan Galloway, 22, of Crockett and Mariaah Lopez, 17, of Crockett according to DPS officials.
They were passengers in a 2016 Chevrolet pick-up driven by Austin Cline Catoe, 18, also of Crockett, DPS officials reported. He was transported to Houston County Medical Center in Crockett where he was treated and released.
A third passenger in the truck was Haley Henry, 19, of Lovelady. The DPS report states she was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment of her injuries.
At about 4 a.m., Houston County DPS troopers responded to the crash scene on FM 357, approximately 4 miles south of Kennard.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates the pick-up was traveling north on FM 357 when it left the roadway to the right where it rolled over and struck multiple trees, DPS officials reported.
"Unfortunately, Mariaah Lopez was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash at 5 a.m. by Judge Clyde Black," DPS officials stated. "Brendan Galloway was transported to Houston County Medical Center and was pronounced deceased at approximately 6 a.m."
This crash remains under investigation.
Funeral arrangements for Brendan Galloway are pending at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home in Crockett.
No other information about the crash is available at this time.
