Juneteenth Parade Set For Saturday

The 31st Annual Houston County Juneteenth Parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, in downtown Crockett. Line-up will start at 9 a.m. on Eighth Street, between the Old Intermediate School and First Baptist Church. The theme is "Rejoicing and Hope".

The Grand Marshal this year is Dr. Dallas Pierre, who practiced dentistry here for many years. The parade will proceed towards the Courthouse Square and end at the Groves Educational Foundation on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. At 11 a.m., official ceremonies will begin at the Groves Educational Foundation.

Parade honorees will include Miss Juneteenth Queen, Rynesha Gibson; Junior Miss Juneteenth Queen, Aaliyah Price; First Runner-Up Icesyss Richardson; and Miss Congeniality, Jazzlyn Holmes.

In honor of Juneteenth, Emancipation Day, the City of Crockett offices will be closed on Monday, June 20. Garbage pick up will not be affected.
