(HCSO Photo)Houston County District Attorney Donna Kaspar reported that Ylanz Delane, also known as, Ylanz Baker, appeared in the 349th Judicial District Court Thursday on several indicted charges.

Baker pleaded guilty to Possession of Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone and Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Kaspar stated. Both offenses are First Degree felonies. His sentence was levied on those two charges.
Kaspar stated that other charges were taken into consideration with Baker's plea of guilty, including charges of Attempted Capital Murder which was alleged to have occurred on Feb. 10, 2015 and Endangering a Child, by possessing drugs in the child's presence, which was alleged to have occurred on Jan. 7, 2015.

Civil forfeiture proceedings were also filed. The Crockett Police Department seized $9,495.00 and a 2004 Crown Victoria from Baker in December 2015, alleging that the funds and vehicle were illegally gained contraband from the sale of drugs.
"Once the funds are forfeited to the State, they will be split between the City of Crockett, the Crockett Police Department and the District Attorney's Office for use in law enforcement," Kaspar stated.

According to Crockett Police Department (CPD) records, on Dec. 11, 2015, CPD officers found 43.49 grams of cocaine, 65.24 grams of crack cocaine, 50.66 grams of PCP (Phencyclidine), 1.93 grams of Xanax, .61 grams of Ecstasy and .044 oz. of marijuana in a residence occupied by Delane. That also was the incident in which officers seized the $9,495 in cash.
On Dec. 4, 2015, the Houston County Grand Jury returned indictments against Delane for drug-related charges as well as an Evading Arrest With Vehicle charge. He was suspected of committing those crimes on Oct. 2.

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, he was arrested by the CPD on two Misdemeanor C charges (alleged Disorderly Conduct and Assault).
Earlier in the year, on Feb. 10, 2015, CPD officers were dispatched to the area Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (MLK) at W.M. Batts St. in Crockett, in reference to shots fired. A Crockett couple advised officers they were sitting in the park on MLK when a man they identified as Delane had just fired several shots at them. The female reportedly was holding a 9-month-old infant in her arms at the time of the shooting. The victims ran and were not struck by the bullets.

Later that evening, an arrest warrant was obtained for Ylanz Demarcus Delane aka Ylanz Baker for Attempted Capital Murder, a First Degree Felony. He was arrested without incident.
