Four Houston County residents are among a total of eight recently arrested and charged with crimes associated with an alleged crystal methamphetamine trafficking ring, according to the Houston County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday, May 5, the HCSO reported that its Narcotics Division launched an investigation in March into a crystal methamphetamine trafficking ring that was pushing large amounts of meth into Houston County from Harris and Montgomery Counties.
"Approximately five pounds of crystal methamphetamine has been seized along with three firearms and an undisclosed amount of US currency," an HCSO press release states.
This investigation involved a collaborative effort between the Houston County Sheriff's Office, FBI, Texas DPS, Harris County Sheriff's Office and Texas TDCJ OIG. The United States Attorney's Office Eastern District of Texas will be prosecuting some these cases.
More arrests are anticipated. See full story in the Sunday, May 8, Houston County Courier. www.hccourier.com
